Scott Archibald, LV Tri Club Member Vying for USAT Board Position

Scott Archibald, LV Tri Club Member one of 11 candidates vying for a USAT Southwest Region Board Position

Platform
After years of cycling between 3000 – 5000 miles annual I needed some variety and I tried triathlons in 2008. Although new to the sport of triathlons I have become an avid triathlete recently completing RAGE triathlon in Las Vegas, NV & Wildflower in Monterey County, CA with additional events scheduled in 2009.

Background & Experience:

I am a seasoned executive in Fortune 50 companies with recent experience in the non-profit world that I feel prepares me to serve on the USAT Board.

:Executive Board Member, Multisport Ministries (2008 – present). Multisport Ministries is a Christian based triathlon team focused on providing fellowship for male triathletes (Christian or not). As a member of the executive board I participate in strategic planning efforts and assist in efforts to grow the organization. I am also in the process of helping form our pro team. Within a short year we have grown from 2 to 150 members with a handful of members looking to go professional. We benefit from active support through triathletes such as Chris Lieto and Josh Merrick.
:Treasurer & Executive Director, Kravenko Foundation (2008 – present). The Kravenko foundation provides children with physical and developmental disabilities the opportunity to experience the art of dance. I am responsible for all financial and business aspects to ensure success at the Kravenko Foundation.
:Vice President Operations, Neusport Football Club (2006 – 2008). I successfully completed a $1 Million turn around at this youth soccer non-profit organization during 2007.

Goals for Board position:
First and foremost, I would like to involve a wider audience to triathlons in order to increase awareness and participation within the sport. This may include increasing participation in Duathlons, Junior and U23 events, as well as increasing overall participation in triathlons.

In addition, I feel that it is important to promote triathlons as a way that participants can make a positive and healthy impact on their lives and their community. Requiring USAT sanctioned events to meet specified green standards while also providing programs or assistance to the community will be an important part of this. Promoting health awareness as a fourth discipline of a successful triathlete is critical and the most overlooked aspect of many triathletes. Encouraging health oriented vendors to support and participate in race activities should introduce a “healthy living” aspect to participants and the community. Lastly ensuring that USAT is fiscally viable organization. Providing various levels of membership (e.g.: lifetime, gold, silver, bronze, etc.) may help increase the financial state of the organization while bringing in additional members.
